MOTIVATION

The technical committee of the International Pipeline geotechnical Conference (c-IPG) and the Colombian Association of Engineers (ACIEM) are organizing the 7th INTERNATIONAL PIPELINE GEOTECHNICAL CONFERENCE (IPG) in Bogotá D.C. (Colombia), between November 5th, 6th and 7th, 2025. On November 5th, tutorials will take place to delve deeper into topics of interest, the contents will be shared in due course, and on November 6th and 7th will take place the technical event, with the presentation of the authors of the selected papers, keynote lectures by experts and a panel to discuss a current topic.

The conference, which began in 2013 with the support of ASME, aims to share and build knowledge, foster international cooperation and promote best practices in the Management of Natural Hazards with the potential to affect transportation pipelines. The above, within the framework of protecting the public, contributing to environmental sustainability, improving the management of infrastructure assets and ensuring the reliability of their operations. This edition will address aspects of understanding, technical background and use of the recommendations of API Recommended Practice 1187 on Pipeline Integrity Management for Landslide Hazards, a document published in 2024.

IPG 2025 will address aspects related to the use of advanced technologies such as remote sensing, artificial intelligence tools and digital transformation, applied in geothreat management systems, pipeline integrity management, projects and NATECH risk management, as well as hydrogen transportation. It will also seek to improve understanding of climate variability phenomena and the effects of third parties on geothreats, best practices and advances in regulations and industry standards.

The papers will be assigned in four (4) categories, as follows:

  1. Management of natural threats associated with the design and construction of transportation pipelines.
  2. Analysis and evaluation of risks due to geothreats and their planning in pipeline integrity management.
  3. Implementation of monitoring, mitigation of geothreats and performance management.
  4. Management of Anthropic Effects (Third Parties) on Pipeline Geothreats
